    Your Team:  Framework Team

    The Framework team is the backbone of our innovative technology and solutions that serve leaders of academic change as they transform teaching and learning for students globally. We’re a close-knit group, focused on the platform and infrastructure that underpin our products and their development.

     

    Your Role: SRE III

    You’ll be a key player in a small, internal team dedicated to crafting a high performance continuous release product platform. We are in the process of a big evolution of our infrastructure operations, so you’ll be able to dabble in everything from our core application through the continuous development and deployment processes to hosting production applications at scale.

    What You'll Do Here:

    What will you do?

    • Play a key role in developing next generation continuous release production infrastructure with a focus on continuous integration and infrastructure provisioning
    • Build a high quality, global, hosting environment on Amazon Web Services with monitoring, security testing and disaster recovery processes
    • Work with our developer teams to support their adoption of AWS services (e.g. Elasticache) and to enable them to effectively support our applications
    • Participate in an on-call rotation for production infrastructure and services support
    • Help us transition from being a hectic workplace to CALMS
    • Create and support services that allow developers to self-serve

    Skills You Will Need Here:

    What do we need from you?

    • You have 7-9 years of experience in a production hosting environment, specifically in a SaaS or highly available hosting environment
    • You have set up and operated continuous integration processes (e.g. Jenkins) and managed the associated infrastructure, including support for automated browser-based application testing
    • Deep expertise in Amazon Web Services including EC2, S3, ELB, CloudFront CDN, Kinesis and dynamic web applications and databases
    • Several years of Ansible experience as well as experience with scripting languages, like Ruby, Python, Bash, etc.  
    • Worked with version control such as Git
    • Understanding of agile development and continuous delivery processes
    • Knowledge of IT Security concepts and familiarity with applying them
    • Excellent communication (especially with a non-technical audience) and organization skills
    • Team player, eager to learn new technologies and adapt as our business evolves
    • Extra credit for:
        • AWS Lambda development experience
        • Java or Scala experience
        • PostgreSQL experience
