You will have the opportunity to truly partner with your business clients to help build a culture of engagement and drive business results by leveraging strategic approaches in the area of talent management, organizational development, training, compensation, coaching, talent acquisition, and employee relations. The HR Manager/Business Partner will focus on developing strong relationships with managers and employees to maximize the level and effectiveness of our organization's talent. Working with the rest of the on-site HR team and the corporate HR organization, the HR Manager/Business Partner will play a key role in delivering measurable and sustained value-added solutions that will continue to position the company as the Employer of Choice.
Business Partnership: Understand supported businesses/departments/functions so able to translate the strategic and tactical business plans into HR/people-oriented strategic and operational plans; and able to support the business in a strategic and value-added manner. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning of new programs/strategies and regulatory action as those items impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the corporation. Be a catalyst for organizational change; assist with organizational design and job evaluation efforts as needed.
Talent Management: Lead the performance management process for your client teams to ensure employees and managers are trained on the performance management processes and work with management and staff to facilitate goal setting and development plans. Partner with managers to ensure appropriate development plans are in place to support employee growth.
Training & Development: Partner with your client team to identify common development needs and work with our Learning & Development team to create training programs and strategies that support the company’s strategic plans and culture. Facilitate in-house development initiatives to improve competencies and drive promotional readiness.
Organizational Planning & Development: Function as an objective consultant to management with regard to organizational issues which impact people including organizational structure, managing change, promotions, job titles, career and succession planning. Develop and implement effective communication plans to ensure optimal organizational impact.
Compensation, Rewards & Recognition: Collaborate with HR centers of excellence and business unit management on annual merit review process and implementation of compensation processes and tools. Review total compensation as it relates to internal/external equity issues. Work with HR management and business unit team to develop and implement local rewards and recognition programs as needed.
Talent Acquisitions: Help develop viable talent pipelines for the organization and assist in the college relations activities. Provide recruiting support activities including candidate selection to support business objectives. Partner with managers and recruiting staff to define job profiles and ensure equal opportunity for all employees and support of business objectives, sourcing and interviewing candidates, and providing recommendations on the selection of candidates. Assist in New Hire Orientation with the HR team.
Employee Relations: Work in conjunction with management teams and employees to coach and facilitate problem solving and develop, implement, and administer employee relations programs that will contribute to a positive and progressive work environment. Provide counsel and ensure prompt investigation for all legal-related matters; ensure that appropriate legal counsel is brought into these matters.
Outreach and AAP Administration: Coordinate outreach activities and serve as point person for local AAP. Communicate and educate the local leadership regarding the annual Affirmative Action goals & planning. Monitor employment process/hiring to ensure that Cengage/Gale is building a diverse and effective workforce.
Other Duties: Manage projects that support strategic initiatives and help build a culture of engagement for all employees.
