Your Opportunity: Learning Objects, Enterprise Sales

We’re seeking an experienced business development professional to drive strategy and sales of innovative technology and services solutions that help leaders of academic change transform teaching and learning for students globally.

Learning Objects, a division of Cengage Learning, is a new kind of learning innovation partner with deep higher education and learning science expertise. We design and build innovative education programs, courses, and learning experiences. Using Learning Objects, our next generation learning environment and tools, we collaborate with institutions and other education providers to deliver competency-based, personalized, and adaptive learning at scale.

 

Your Role: Business Development Director

You will act as a senior executive sales professional and general product expert to drive strategy and sales of Learning Objects technology and services solutions.  You’ll identify key customers, uncover needs and align them to our offerings, qualify prospective customer requirements, deliver strategically developed tailored product demonstrations that fit individual customers, and connect necessary internal teams to deliver client continuity and ensure valid, configurable solutions.  Further, you will take ownership of RFP and proposal services for Learning Objects.

 

Responsibilities:

What will you do?

  • Develop and initiate strategic outreach for prospective customers
  • Deploy parallel sales strategy in order to identify and meet the needs of all influencers and decision makers in sales process
  • Collaborate and lead visioning sessions with customers to generate an action plan that drives measurable and accountable next steps
  • Collaborate internally within Learning Objects team and Cengage institutional sales organization to identify key target customers and develop strategy
  • Own our RFP and proposal process, and execution
  • Collaborate with internal team to develop and confirm project scope that drives P&L, SOW, and more
  • Collaborate on contract development and negotiate contract with customer
  • Ensure customer has excellent experience with Learning Objects throughout customer journey to drive strong customer advocacy and evangelism
  • Travel 50% of the time

Qualifications:

What do we need from you?

  • You possess at least 5-7 years and strong track record of success in technology and services sales at the executive level
  • You can easily apply experience with SaaS-based products/services, specifically complex sales engagements in early markets with rapid growth and possess quick and easy adaptability in an ever-evolving sales organization
  • You possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and/or university (preferably in a business or IT-related field)
  • You have background and experience managing projects with aggressive timelines across virtual teams.
  • You have background and experience utilizing and administering RFP software, such as RFPIO, to develop and deliver RFPs and proposals.  
  • You have P&L and contract development and negotiation experience
  • Extra credit for:
    • You possess previous experience in the Higher Education field
